How to get your salon on Google Maps, and booked from it

For salons and spas in India · 6 minute read · 5 November 2026

When someone nearby types “salon near me” or “hair spa in [their area]”, Google shows a map with three salons under it before any website. Those three get most of the calls. Getting into that list starts with a free Google Business Profile, and staying there depends on how complete and active it is.

Here is how to set it up properly, step by step, and how to make sure the people who find you on Maps actually book.

Step 1: Check whether you are already on Maps

Search your salon's name and area on Google Maps. Sometimes a listing already exists, added by a customer or by Google itself. If you find one, open it and tap “Claim this business” or “Own this business?”. If there is nothing, you will create a new profile in the next step. Do not create a second listing if one already exists. Two listings for the same salon split your reviews and confuse Google.

Step 2: Create or claim your Google Business Profile

Go to business.google.com and sign in with the Google account you want to manage the salon with. Use a business account the owner controls, not a staff member's personal one.

  • Business name: exactly what is on your board outside. Do not add words like “best” or “No. 1”. Google can suspend listings for that.
  • Category: pick the closest main category, such as Beauty salon, Hair salon, Nail salon or Day spa. You can add more categories later.
  • Location: if clients come to you, add your address and place the pin exactly on your door. If you only do home services, choose the option to hide your address and add the areas you serve instead.
  • Phone and website: the number you actually answer, and your own website if you have one.

Step 3: Get verified

Google needs to confirm the salon is real before your profile shows fully. Depending on your business, it may ask for a short video of your shopfront, signage and inside, a phone or SMS code, or a postcard to your address. Follow what it asks for. Until you are verified, many of the steps below will not show to customers.

Step 4: Fill in everything clients check

A complete profile looks more trustworthy to clients and gives Google more reasons to show you. Fill in:

  • Opening hours, including your weekly off day, and special hours before festivals and holidays
  • Services with a short description of each: haircut, colour, keratin, facials, bridal, nails, waxing
  • Photos of your real space, your chairs, your team at work and your finished looks. Add new ones every few weeks.
  • A short description of who you are and what you are known for, in plain words
  • Attributes such as women-owned, wheelchair access or appointment required, where they apply
  • Booking link or appointment URL, so the “Book” or website button goes straight to booking

Step 5: Collect real reviews, and reply to all of them

Reviews are one of the strongest signals for local search, and the first thing a new client reads. From your profile you can copy a short review link. Send it on WhatsApp after an appointment, or put it on a small QR card at the counter.

  • Ask every happy client, not just a few. A steady trickle of reviews looks more natural than twenty in one week.
  • Reply to every review, good or bad, within a day or two. A calm, polite reply to a bad review often does more for trust than five good ones.
  • Never buy reviews or write them yourself. Google removes them and can penalise the listing.

Step 6: Keep the profile active

Profiles that are updated regularly tend to do better than ones set up once and forgotten. Every week or two, add a few new photos or a short update: a festive offer, a new treatment, bridal season bookings opening. Answer questions people post on your profile. Keep your hours correct, especially around Diwali, Eid, Christmas and wedding season.

Step 7: Turn Maps views into bookings

Showing up is half the job. When someone taps your listing, they decide in seconds whether to book you or the next salon. Your profile, and the website it links to, should answer three things quickly:

  1. What do you offer, and roughly what kind of salon are you? Clear services and real photos.
  2. When can I come? Correct hours, and ideally free slots or an easy way to ask.
  3. How do I book? One button: book online, WhatsApp or call. Not a choice of five.

A lot of salons lose clients right here: the profile looks good, but the website button opens an old page, a slow site or an Instagram profile with no booking link. If someone has to hunt for how to book at 11pm, they book somewhere else.

A quick checklist

  • One verified Google Business Profile, with the pin on your door
  • The same salon name, address and phone everywhere: Google, Instagram, Justdial and your website
  • Every service listed, with real photos
  • A review link you send after every appointment
  • A reply to every review
  • A booking button that works on a phone, late at night

Want us to look at yours?

Send us your salon's website, or your Google Maps link if you don't have a website yet. Within two working days you'll get a free short video of what a new client sees when they find you, and the fixes that would bring in the most bookings. If it is already working well, we'll tell you that too.
